WEST: How many more lives need to be lost before Ford acts on Northern Highways

QUEEN’S PARK – NDP MPP Jamie West (Sudbury) stood in the Legislature today, calling out the Premier for repeated broken promises on Highway 69 after another devastating collision.

“The Premier himself said this highway is ‘white-knuckle driving’,” said MPP West. “And yet, after years of promises, nothing has been done. Families like the Patels are paying the price for that inaction with unimaginable loss.

“When Doug Ford himself says that Highway 69 kills people, it begs the question: how many more lives must be shattered before this government finally acts? For 8 years under Ford’s Conservatives, budgets have never had a single dollar allocated to Highway 69.

People in Northern Ontario deserve safe roads, real investment, and a government that treats their safety as a priority; not a talking point.”
